"There's a little pumpkin coming!"

Next weekend I am hosting a baby shower here at the house.  Since it is theme is pumpkins.
This will be the guest book area.
This is how my day started out.

This sewing machine cabinet, was what I thought was a great find off of Craigslist.  I was so thrilled..the sewing machine inside had the special ruffler attachment.
Once did not work.  The repair estimate was for more than a new machine.  Mister Mister
removed the broken machine and painted the cabinet white for me.

I then added fabric and jute trim to the faux  drawers.  Now just an accent piece.
Making lemonade out of lemons....
that's what it's all about!

I have had this sweet chair forever.
One of my most favorite pieces.

I am still not finished with the framed burlap.
Thinking of stenciling "Welcome" over the top
of the smaller frame.

The day of the shower....I need to think of something clever to replace the 31.....any ideas?

The vintage screen door and awning have been outside all summer.  It was a great back drop for our shade garden area.

See you again in the Spring.

Simply White

When bringing out my Halloween boxes I noticed these white pumpkins I bought years ago.  I'm sure I had some wonderful idea.."haha" planned for them.

Does finding forgotten things years later, feel like they are free to anyone else?  Well, it does to me.... and I am  glad I didn't get around to using them then.

They are made from a foam product and are light weight, they are so easy to work with.
I used items from around the house to embellish each pumpkin.
I choose to wrap one with a white polka  dot ribbon,  the other glued strands of pearls along the vertical lines and covered the last one with a round crochet table scarf.

I love the sweet clean look....
.now off to finish the entire vignette.

If you are out browsing....please stop by these great much creativity!!

Pumpkins and Pearls

Pulling from all areas of the house....I finally finished decorating my mantel for fall.
Trying something different this fall...
I can't seem to get enough of the
pearls and burlap look....

This great piece is a little large and
literally sitting on the edge....
mister..mister has assured me it's fine..
that is unless we have an earthquake.

and believe it or not we have several
a month here in central Oklahoma.

The candelabras were once black
iron and when my daughter got married.....

I purchased every chandelier and candelabra at
I could find at our local thrift stores.
My husband sprayed painted everyone of them white....his poor index finger...
I added pearls, beads and crystal droplets to all.
I still have them....
He keeps asking me what in the world am I ever going to do with 30 or so chandeliers and's been over two years...
hmm...not sure...but I can't bear to
part with them!!!

Pumpkins and Pearls Update: Oct. 7, 2011

The same evening after I had posted the Oct. 5th entry... our local nighty news.. reported what they said was a swarm ...and yes I said Swarm of Earthquakes in our area, their words not mine. :)

So I went to the official earthquake website:
As you can see ....there were 5 small earthquakes....just hours after decorating my mantel......
Of course there had been a swarm...when my favorite little fairy is tittering on the mantel's edge.
So, I decided to take down my center pumpkin fairy....before a small tremor hit.
Once fairy came off.....the entire mantel looked off with the pearls and back to just ribbon....No earthquakes have happened since she was removed...
of course!

Just one more thing before bed!

Just before going to bed at 1:30 this morning...I was straightening up and putting away some burlap trim I had been working with......
......and before I knew it I was plugging back in the glue gun, hunting for some old shoe broaches and putting new batteries in my camera.

I have had this pillow for months and had found it
on the clearance aisle at Ross.
I love the ruching but I wasn't a big fan of the center trim on the pillow,
....however the price of $3.00 was wonderful!!!
I decided to hide the trim on the front by adding a bit of burlap, lace, velvet ribbon and a rhinestone broach "off a pair of my old sandals".

No sewing here, hot glue gun in was fast and easy to apply the new embellishments to the center front of the pillow.

I knew I kept the broaches from those old sandals for a good reason.

Believe it or not I was in bed by 2:15....
Now, I only wish I had bought two of those pillows....What was I thinking!!!
