TB Thursday #4

On Saturday, May 18, 2013 we took our granddaughter, Violet to our favorite park in
Moore, Oklahoma.  Veterans Park

We took lots of photos of climbing on the jungle gym and of her and Pop swinging.

Who would have thought
48 hours later on Monday, May 20th, 2013
the park would be destroyed in a tornado
In a matter of seconds the park and homes around it were completely gone. So many lives were changed forever that day.  This is just one small area in the community of Moore, Oklahoma.
There is so much is just unbelievable.
My family was not directly affected but we have many friends that were. The generosity by others around the country has been overwhelming.....but there is still a great need.

If you haven't visited the above
online auction....there is still time.
Auction closes on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 7pm

So many wonderful items....check it out.
All proceeds are going to help those in need!

"Thank you"

I love......

Spring Wreath:

Created using a swimming pool noodle, wrapped in burlap, embellished with pretty roses and a beautiful
vintage brooch.
So fast and easy.

Received a call from a friend who needed a simple, no frills wreath for her son's wedding shower.  Again, with the swimming pool noodle, burlap and the sweet couples engagement photo.
So easy!

her friends gathered what they had,
and created her a nest to call home.

I was contacted last week after the tornado in Moore, Oklahoma to be a part of an artist auction to benefit those affected by the storm

Heather Ales took it upon herself to put this great idea in motion.  I think she was looking for 50 or so people to be a part of this worthy cause.  But as you will see when you visit the auction....many more people joined in to make this effort bigger than she ever expected.

 Altered Bird Cage

The auction begins on Monday evening May 27th....
Please visit when you can.  There are so many wonderful pieces listed in the auction.

Throw Back Thursday #3

Four years ago today.....
We were celebrating our daughters wedding.

This photo was taken at our home just as the sun was setting.  It is truly one of my favorite photos taken of our daughter and son-n-law in their wedding attire.  They have a photography business of their own....but this wonderful shot of them is to be credited to our son, who also has such a creative eye.

Moore, Oklahoma

To our family and friends ....
Randy and I were in Moore, Oklahoma at our daughter's when the tornado hit just 1/2 mile south of her home.  We took cover in her storm shelter.
Our children are good and homes are intact.  However, several friends and in-laws families have lost their homes.

The above photo was taken by our son just after the tornado.  The young man in the photo is Joey, our son's best friend.  He and his precious son rode the storm out in their basement. As you can see his home
is a loss, but I am happy to report
his family of three is safe and now together.
There are so many others hurting with the loss of loved ones tonight.  Please keep Oklahoma in your thoughts and prayers.

Moments of May......

Special moments in May........
I have so many special friends that are having such wonderful events in their lives this month.  They are all precious mothers that have done such a wonderful job raising amazing children.
Anita's son Nathan graduated from OU last weekend and will be getting married next month.
Sheri, who just had one of her daughters graduate from college on a soccer scholarship.  Linda, whose daughter just graduated from TCU with honors.  Cindy whose son is graduating from high school was just given a community service award and won our states soccer championship this past weekend.
It is such a joy to sit back and watch as these women enjoy the fruits of their labor and love!! deserve it!!
Happy Moments of May to YOU all!!

Planning and Planting

Hopefully all the frosty nights are
over here in Oklahoma.
Sunday is Mother's Day and it is suppose to be just beautiful weather.  I can't think of a better way to spend the day than being outdoors and sowing a little pumpkin seed. We are going to give a go at a pumpkin patch this year.

I know it is Spring but, with the Great
Pumpkin on my mind I had a little fun with a
vintage photo this week.

Happy Mothers Day!
Have a great weekend!!
Best Wishes,

Country Sampler 1999 : Throw Back Thursday

Throw Back Thursday!

Wow... have things changed in 14 years.
Many moons ago......this is what I did!!
I loved felt and still do.   I designed felt
craft projects...selling my patterns and kits in
the magazine Country Sampler.  They were such a wonderful group to work with.  Remember this
is way before we all had blogs and websites.
No, email....all my orders were done through the mail.
Now of course, they have a wonderful website along with their time tested magazine!

 Country Sampler  Oct/Nov 1999

I also gave workshops and classes.
It was a lot of fun and I met so many creative and wonderful people during this time.
I have some "vintage"  photos of those classes.
I will share those another time.

B is for.....

B is for Becky
A big thank you to my friend,
Becky for coming to help me this weekI had been a little under the weather for the last few weeks.  So getting ready for Glitter Market was slow at best.
Becky to the rescue...driving out to the house to help cut, glue and to give some much needed encouragement!  She is an amazing creative person herself.
Hoping to see more of that creativeness in the coming days.  We have promised each other to stop and smell the roses have a fun day of creating more often.    Real Soon!!!
